St. Joseph Church in Central City, KY is seeking a Bookkeeper/Secretary. The position will involve more than 20 hours of work a week and therefore, according to the policy of the Diocese of Owensboro, will be considered full-time and will be eligible for benefits.
The position is, principally, a bookkeeping position. Substantial bookkeeping experience is required. The responsibilities will entail maintaining the general ledger, chart of accounts, payroll, diocesan reporting, and reporting to the finance council. These responsibilities are technical and require a high degree of attention to and compliance with diocesan policy and secular law for parish administration. These responsibilities are largely carried out using local and online computer systems.
The position also contains a secretarial dimension. Telephone, email, and postal mail communication are all a part. With people calling and stopping by the office, this position will be an important face of compassion for the parish. Helping coordinate parish events and assisting in coordinating the day to day activities of the parish will be an important help to the pastor and parishioners.
